The students left many motorists and travellers stranded as they barricaded a section of the ever-busy highway.
They called on the state government to intervene in a situation which they said has negatively affected academic activities in the institution.
President of the Students Union Government (SUG) at the college, Rex Joseph, told reporters that the students want the institution to be upgraded to a university status.
“Since the Tayo Akpata University is not forthcoming, let the college come back,” Joseph said, adding, “You can see that the students have been withheld.”
“Although the exams are going in snail movement, indigenes have come out en masse this morning to say that the college should be re-enacted.”
