Give up now or relocate, Army warns Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has declared that its ongoing war against Boko Haram would not abate until the insurgents either give up on their determined battle against the nation or relocate to other nations and stop harassing innocent Nigerians.
In the same vein, Governor Theodore Orji maintained that the Army would not be given any breathing space until they complete the uprooting of kidnapping and kidnappers out of the state, to enable the area progress economically and socially.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Onyeabo Azubuike Ihejirika, said the insurgents would not know peace and that the military was up and doing in its renewed bid to dislodge them from wherever their enclaves were in the Northern part of the country.

Speaking at the opening of the four-day Biennial Conference of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps (NAFC) at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, he insisted that the Army was also keeping an eye on criminal activities within the country’s borders, even as it engage the insurgents.
COAS, who was represented by the Commander of 82 Div. Enugu, Major General Adebayo Olaniyi, at the conference tagged “Transforming the Nigerian Army towards meeting security challenges and national development: Role of the NAFC”, said Nigeria was practically safe.
Gen. Ihejirika said that efficient and prudent management of scarce resources was essential if the army was to retain such capacity to confront the numerous security challenges in the country.
According to him, “the Nigerian Army under my leadership will continue to provide the resources and ambient environment for training activities such as this conference which are needed to enhance professionalism in the NA”, restating his determination to implement the ongoing transformation in the Army to make for more efficiency.

Orji, who insisted that the conference was taking place in the state owing to the spirited efforts between his administration and the Army to restore law and order, after kidnappers and armed bandits had almost torn the area apart, said the relationship would continue till no trace of the crime was found again.

He maintained that Abia was now progressively addressing the backwardness of the state which had made it possible for the people to have dividends of democracy unheard of in Abia said his administration would continue to support the security agencies and especially the Army in their onerous task.
